Simon Peter | Apostles of Jesus
Apostle Peter was called Simon before the apostleship. He was a Jew by birth, the son of Jonah, from the tribe of Simeon. His brother was the apostle Andrew the First-Called, from the small Galilean town of Bethsaida in Palestine. Peter was married to the daughter of Aristobulus, the brother of the apostle Barnabas. He had one son and one daughter with her. Simon was an uneducated man, but simple-minded and God-fearing; he kept the commandments of the Lord and walked before the Lord without blemish in all his works. He was a fisherman, and as a poor man, he earned food for his house with the labor of his hands, feeding his wife, children, mother-in-law, and his old father.
Andrew | Apostles of Jesus
Apostle Andrew was from the city of Bethsaida. His father was Jonah, and his brother was the apostle Peter. Andrew the First-Called was a disciple of John Baptist, but from the moment he saw Jesus Christ, he followed him as the first apostle, and therefore he was called the First-Called. He then called his brother Simon (Peter) to be the follower of Jesus Christ. Andrew was a fisherman like his brother Peter. He preached in many countries, including Bithynia, Byzantium, Thrace and Macedonia, Thessaly, Greece, Heraclea, and Amastrida. Apostle Andrew converted many nations to the Christian faith, ordained many priests and bishops. Preaching the Gospel of Christ, he suffered many hardships and troubles, but he remained steadfast in his faith.
